Greetings to the Family and Friends of WHCC,
The “New Year” has come, and with
it is the reminder that time waits for no one.
The days, weeks, months, and years pass so quickly that we scarcely have
time to notice where we are going and what we are accomplishing. Fortunately, 2011 was a good year for WHCC,
but the question becomes, “What will it
take for our blessing to continue”?
I personally believe that it
depends upon the willingness of the entire church family to set personal a
personal goal to help others grow in their faith.
By definition, Christians know that
God has an eternal plan for us. But what many often overlook is that His plan
for us begins in space and time where our faith is birthed, and nurtured while
a maturity process takes place.
In God’s wisdom He established His
church because He knows that we will grow much stronger in our faith when we
are encouraged and supported by one another.
In his letter to the church at
Ephesus, the apostle Paul presents this thought when he wrote, “It was He who gave some to be apostle, some
to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to
prepare God’s people for works of service, so
that the body of Christ may be built
up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of
God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then
we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here
and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in
their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all
things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From
Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament,
grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work”.
What I would like for us to take
from Paul’s words in that there is a year of possibilities before us, a history
that has yet to be written. The challenge is that the days, the weeks, and the
months will pass whether or not we devote ourselves to one another. At the end
of this time, may it be said of WHCC, “They
were devoted to one another to accomplish the cause of Christ Jesus. As
supporting ligaments they built one another up in love. And it
was another great year.”
In Christ,
Ken
